SAB Foundation Tholoana

Give your business a fighting chance and apply to the SAB Foundation Tholoana Enterprise Programme when it opens on 1 August. If you want to make your application stand out from the rest, we recommend that you pay attention to the following tips:

1. Take your time

Before you start, think about your business. Where are the gaps? What exactly do you need to grow and does this programme provide what you are looking for? Are you willing to put in the required effort and will you commit to the programme expectations? Read through the application form in detail. We want to see that you have put in an effort to understand and answer the questions.

2. Put your best foot forward

See this as an opportunity to tell us about yourself as an individual and your business. If you have done this many times before, avoid copy/pasting information you’ve used to apply elsewhere. Personalise the information for this opportunity.

3. Your details

It is very important to enter the correct details as this is the information we will use to contact you. Ensure that your email address and cellphone number are correct and provide us with an alternative number. If you are applying on behalf of someone else, make sure that you capture the applicant’s details and not yours.

4. Business details

This section is for capturing business contact details and basic information. Please do not submit personal details as we use this information to perform our due diligence. Also, pay attention to the employment details section and read the description carefully before filling in the details.

5. Business overview

Read and re-read the essay statement you are being asked to respond to. If you don’t understand the meaning of the questions, we’d like you to contact us for help. Describe what your business does clearly, tell us about your products and services, and what makes you unique. Use short sentences that are to the point. Clearly indicate your strengths and weaknesses to help us understand how the programme can assist you. Explain where you see the business heading.

6. Financial Position and Performance

  • Financial Performance

Relax! We are not looking for audited financials, but we need to understand your financial position. This is a critical section: the financial performance of your business gives an indication of where it is and its potential growth. There is no right or wrong answer and your feedback cannot disqualify you. The more honest you are, the better are your chances of moving to the next phase of the selection process.

  • Motivation

Keep it honest. Illustrate clearly why you would want to be part of the programme and why you should be selected from the thousands of other applications received. Your motivation is a key component. It’s your selling point!

7. Uploads

Please provide all the documentation requested. Focus on uploading the compulsory documents first. Without them, your application will be rejected. You are welcome to load other relevant documents in your possession to give us a full view of your business.

Applications to the prestigious SAB Foundation Tholoana Programme will be accepted from 1 August 2018 to 26 September 2018 at noon.
